Terms and Conditions

    1. The competition has 3 themes, referred to as categories “people”, “places” and “climate change”
    2. To be considered for the prize the photo must have been taken in any city of your country of origin
    3. You can submit between 1 and 9 photos to take part (maximum 3 in each category)
    4. Your photos cannot exceed 5MB each
    5. Your photos cannot be digitally manipulated by any software
    6. You must be the sole author and owner of the copyright
    7. NEW! Closing date for entries is October 22nd
    8. In the first stage of winners selection, a local panel of judges selects the 10 best photos in each of 3 categories (announced on 2nd November)
    9. Based on the local panel of judges’ shortlist, the public votes online to select the 3 winners – one in each category (winners announcement between November 30th - December 3rd
    10. The 3 winners, go to the global final, where a global panel of judges selects global winners in each of 3 themes (announcement on December 9th )
    11. In addition to photos entered in competition, you can publish a        gallery of images, up to 2MB per month, max 200kB photos – to share via website. However, none of those photos take part in the competition.

     

 

Terms and Conditions

1. No purchase is necessary to participate in this Global Photo Challenge. The participation in the competition is free.
2. Entrants must be based in Canada, 18 years old or over at the time of entry and must provide a valid email address. Proof of age and eligibility will be required to claim a prize.
3. This Photo Challenge is open to anyone other than employees of Metro, his subsidiaries, relatives in first degree of employees, agents, contractors and consultants (including in each case their families) of Metro International and its affiliates.
4. Prizes are non-transferable and there is no cash alternative. Metro reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value at any time.
5. Metro will notify winners by e-mail, in the event of non-acceptance of a prize within 7 days of receipt of notification e-mail, Metro reserves the right to reallocate the prize awarded.
6. The decision by Metro shall be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered int.
7. Winners may be requested to take part in promotional activity and Metro reserves the right to publish the names and email addresses of the winners.
8. The global prize includes a publication of the winner’s photos from the trip. Metro reserves the right not to publish those photos, if a local metro photo editor rejects them because of insufficient quality.
9. By submitting your entry to the competition, you give Metro the right to reproduce, exhibit, print, or use in any form the entry for the course of two year’s from the date of the competitions closure for the marketing and editorial purposes related the competition.
10. Participation in this competition also includes the potential to be included in a photo album – with the photos, titles and names of the best photographers in each Metro country. By submitting your entry to the competition, you give complete authorization to Metro to include your photos in a promotional photo album. This authorization covers all the rights you may have in that album with the exemption of your moral right to include your name in it.
11. The album will feature your first name, surname and title of the photo – which you are authorizing.
12. Metro reserves the right to publish your name, surname, age and city next to your photos for marketing and editorial promotional activity relating to the competition.
13. Metro reserves the right to edit and crop submitted entries.
14. Metro does not take responsibility for the contents of the website– that is contributed by participants and visitors to website (photos, comments or other). A self-moderation mechanism is in place – whereby visitors can flag up inappropriate or offensive contents.
15. Metro reserves the right to moderate the contents of the website including removing inappropriate or offensive content. That includes removing a user’s page, a user account, and taking all other actions in order to remove such content.
16. If Metro or any entity that is tied professionally to the present competition, detect any anomaly or suspect that a participant is preventing the normal development of the competition (for example, illegally altering his/her record by means of any technical or computer procedure, this way to falsify information Metro will eliminate the inscription of this participant). In this regard, it is important to add that Metro has enabled the necessary technological support to detect any possible anomalous or fraudulent action (performance) that tries to alter the participation in the present contest with the aim of achieving a prize through illicit means.
17. GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS.
Metro reserves the right to modify at any time the conditions of the present enclosed competition and even the possible cancellation before the closing date, providing that there was a valid reason, promising to communicate with sufficient anticipation the new bases, conditions, or in its case, the definitive cancellation.
Metro is not responsible for the possible technical, telephonic or computer failures that may occur during the course of the competition or any another attributable circumstance that could concern the development and participation in the present promotion.
There is established a maximum period of receipt of claims that will be sent to Metro of one month from the date when the prize will be communicated.
